Eureka Gardens Residents See the Story of Naomi Come to Life

As Christians, each of us are blessed with a special gift that can and will benefit others when we choose to share it.

Over the weekend residents at GMF’s Eureka Gardens apartments enjoyed the blessings of many faithful women.

Florence Flemming, Lakeshia Ogelsby, and Gunean Hooks, residents and volunteers in our community center, used their gifts of hospitality and service to provide an exceptional meal for a group of women from Eureka Gardens. The meal was followed by other members of our community blessing the group with their gift of worship when they led us in song.

The evening culminated with Jackie Pegram delivering a live reenactment of “The Story of Naomi”. She stirred the entire audience to sing with her and then slowly pulled them into the trials and tribulations of Naomi. Mothers of all ages had their eyes fixed on Ms. Pegram as she captivated the group with her gifts of passion and acting. The story was very inspiring and was presented to the audience in a way that even a child could understand. Ms. Pegram received a standing ovation from all in attendance!

Thank you, ladies, for blessing our residents with all your different gifts!

Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.

Ministry Update from GMF Properties in Mobile, AL

Year-round ministry to residents at GMF’s apartment complexes in Mobile, AL, is helping many come to know the Lord! As GMF partners with the Mobile Baptist Association Multi-Housing Ministry, the efforts of local individuals and churches are brought together to spread the gospel and minister to those in need.

The MBA Multi-Housing Ministry engaged in activities on several GMF properties over the summer months last year, including Bayou Bend, Bayou Plaza/Jefferson Place, and St. Stephens Woods. The volunteers hosted block parties, vacation Bible school, and backyard Bible Studies.

In the fall ministry continued with outdoor Bible story reading for the children in the St. Stephens Woods community.

As a result of these interactions, there were more than 35 confessions of faith, candidates for baptism, and requests for adult Bible studies!

In January Dr. Charlie York, Senior Pastor of Highpoint Baptist Church and moderator of the MBA, hosted a meeting for pastors to become familiar with and participate in the Multi-Housing Ministry in their areas.

Because GMF opens all its Mobile properties for ministry, volunteers from various churches, organizations and agencies have places to gather for:

  • Prayer walks
  • Biblical curriculums
  • After school outreach programs such as:
    • Good News Club
    • Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts
    • Literacy and tutoring ministries
    • Nutritional and medical care
    • Practical life skills
    • Counseling for women and children
    • Christian character development programs

With great excitement and anticipation, we look forward to indoor space becoming available for ministry very soon at St. Stephens Woods, Jefferson Place/Bayou Plaza, and South Haven. We are so thankful for all the volunteers and partners like the MBA Multi-Housing Ministry who share our desire to join God in His great work!

GMF Host Family Night at Berkley Commons Apartments

GMF knows the power of a healthy family unit. To promote strong family bonds, GMF strives to provide opportunities for resident families to have fun and grow closer.

Last weekend residents at GMF’s Berkley Commons apartments in Indianapolis enjoyed a family movie night. About 20 people of all ages came together to watch Pixar’s “Inside Out”, an inspiring movie that illustrates the power of family supporting one another through difficult times. Residents enjoyed the quality time with their families and neighbors.
